It's horrible that you have had this experience but I have to say the diabetic nursing service in Southend on Sea are fantastic. So may be next time you'll get one of the better nurses. Chin up its not all doom and gloom at least you had done your research x

Anonymous Question Type 2 - Should I be testing my blood sugars?

It sounds to me like you need to go on one of the diabetes education days. I went on one called STEP and found it very very helpful. It's no good testing if you don't know what changes to make once you know your levels. If your only on metformin I wouldn't think you would need to test to often...

Help...pretty sure I've had my first hypo

Don't forget as a T2 you will be producing some of your own insulin and some days your body will produce more than others so you will have good days and bad. But on the plus side your levels have come down which is great. Well done you. :)

    Type 2

It is statements such as t2 diabetes is reversible as long as you eat right and exercise that cause people with diabetes to be looked up as fat and lazy. Everybody is different and NO ONE should be made to feel that diabetes is their fault. Some people will just get diabetes because sometimes...

    Treated with distain again

Don't be afraid to ask questions and if you don't understand ask again. The more you understand about your diabetes the better you will be able to deal with it. Never feel stupid or like you are being a pest , none of us were born knowing everything and the best way to learn is ask and ask...

    Can't prick my own finger

You will get used to it. Set it on 1 and don't put to much pressure on it. I have have taken so many tests over the years and injected my self god knows how many times that it has become second nature. Finger tips do get sore sometimes though. But what's a sore finger when you look at the big...

    How will I feel medicated?

Much better. I had exactly the same problems until I was diagnosed and treated with type 2 diabetes . Within a month I felt I had a new lease of life. Don't worry if you have to take medication at first as you might be able to reduce it or even come off of it once you lose weight. Most important...
