    Peri-menopause and blood glucose

I've noticed my hba1c is on the rise but I haven't changed my eating habits and can only put this down to peri menopause/menopause. I was put on metformin but it made me severely constipated for 3 weeks and I had to come off it. No one ever talks about metformin making people constipated, it's...

Long Covid. A support thread for those who take a while to recover from Covid-19

There are some private long covid clinics around. Since I had covid in feb 21 I've repeatedly been told by my GP surgery that all they can do is treat the symptoms if that's possible. The rest is a case of coming to terms with it and learning your own limits and living within them. Hope you...

Long Covid. A support thread for those who take a while to recover from Covid-19

Thanks for starting this thread, It's helpful to read how others are coping too. I've been battling with symptoms of long covid since I had covid in February 2021. At first I thought it was my seasonal asthma but then had a positive covid test. Symptoms since covid have included shortness of...

Any T1s teachers going back to/ shielding from secondary school in Tier 4?

Type 2 vulnerable TA here in primary school, with vulnerable child of my own at home who has half a lung missing. Anxiety is hitting hard about going back tomorrow - no mask, no shield and working 1-1 with phonics and speech. I have no answers just empathy for your concern. Online learning is...

    Cholesterol and Statins

Thank you for putting all of this information on this thread. Most years I get told I need to go on statins and every time I refuse. The last time, the practice nurse was good enough to do the risk questionnaire test thing and my risk was all of 2%!

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Wow, that's an eye opener! It does leave me with the question of if this is truly the case, why are masks mandatory in certain environments and why has the NHS/medical profession continued to use masks? Go figure (shrugs shoulders)

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Personally, I just don't think the government care. All they care about is getting the kids back to school and adults back to work so they can pay their taxes and restart the economy. I'd quite happily buy my own PPE if I was allowed to wear it in September. My school does have PPE available...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

I couldn't agree more. It's amazing how somehow COVID-19 recognises a school gate and apparently it doesn't come in to primary schools. Along with everyone else who works in a primary school we have been told no PPE use from September unless we are dealing with a suspected case at school...

I was on citalopram for a year a few years ago. It didn't cause weight gain but I did have problems with my sight.

A lack of good quality sleep messes with your blood sugars. This is just my experience anyway.

Is it possible for T2 to go hypo on just one Metformin a day

Good for you, it takes guts to ask for help, well done ;). I found EMDR very helpful (I have had PTSD for a number of years due to a number of traumatic experiences). Took me years to finally ask for help.

Is it possible for T2 to go hypo on just one Metformin a day

Yes, we were informed on our first aid course that the old rule of a Mars bar was out of the window. You mentioned you'd had banana, coke, etc. It's very easy to over eat when feeling hypo so be careful with that. With regards to your anxiety about having a hypo, have you spoken to anyone...

1 wine gum put me from 4.1 - 4.6. First time I've eaten a wine gum in 10 years! My son was gobsmacked and then proceeded to demolish the rest of the packet. Hahaha

Is it possible for T2 to go hypo on just one Metformin a day

Diet controlled diabetics can and do have hypos. I queried this same question on a first aid at work course once and the training instructor was a type 2 diet controlled diabetic himself as well as a hospital nurse. He'd been talking about diabetes and how to deal with someone going hypo at work.
