    Sudden change in insulin requirement

Could it be the quality of the insulin? Just a thought.....I understand that if insulin is manufactured in different/ other countries under licence there can be differences in amounts of insulin needed and time it takes to act.........

    Comedians And Diabetes

.....but the reason it is annoying is because the 2 conditions are so different in terms of management eg my doc told me not to have anything sweet because it would cause my pancreas to produce more insulin so I would become hypo.....I have had type 1 for 57 years and my pancreas ceased to...

    Comedians And Diabetes

I actually think they don't understand diabetes. They moved recently to be opposite their GP surgery. I really thought they were joking.......

Type 2 Carbs And The Doctor/dn

....or type ones either as care has largely been transferred to primary sector (GP s).

Type 2 Carbs And The Doctor/dn

Likewise (could write a joke book about what I've been told over 57 years of type 1...however care from 8 to 14 years was exceptional).

    Comedians And Diabetes

Must admit I get fed up also with being lumped together with type 2 s, especially by doctors and when I'm told by type 2 s I should have it bit of cake or whatever as I have to enjoy life like they do (I want to enjoy life which is why I don't have that cake, xmas pud or whatever)!!!!

    Comedians And Diabetes

I celebrated my diagnosis, a year after it happened, at age 9. I still have the diary in which I made a note about it. Why did I celebrate it? Prior to diagnosis at 8 years I was unable to run across the playground without feeling weak and breathless, I had absolutely no energy, I was ALWAYS...

    Nhs Care Plan

Oh, I so agree....one I used to have got unpleasant, personal & rude if I disagreed with her but she seemed to know very little at all about diabetes. Surgery got another DSN, only saw her once but she seemed very knowledgeable but has apparently left after only a few months.

Anyone With Type 1 And No Complications

Blimey you look good.....obviously kept yourself well all those years. Can't get cgm s or anything where I live. Docs tell me "there are only bm s" "CGM s only used for diagnostic purposes".....like how stupid do they think I am......????

Anyone With Type 1 And No Complications

After I danced (gave up at 27 because I married and was working in the Italian Operetta Company in Italy) I worked in advertising for 10 years and was a top revenue producer (with only the odd day off for sickness). Had 2 children, mid to late thirties who were normal weights (7 lbs & 6 lbs 6ozs...

Anyone With Type 1 And No Complications

57 years....type 1. Put it down to good BM s/ HBAc1 s, understanding of type 1, food-- cho contained in, exchanges and an absolute ton of exercise (as recommended by docs in 1960 s when 1st diagnosed) and not being obsessed by diabetes but doing the right thing in order to have energy to do as I...

    When To Call In Sick?

Never have I called in sick about diabetes. If you are ill & have high bm s because of that it is different (infections raise blood glucose all on their own), you need to call in sick because of the illness.

    Complications...

I've always thought to look after the diabetes but forget about it (check obviously) & jam as much into life as possible (far easier with good control too). Your diabetes should revolve around you....not you around the diabetes. You need to devise coping strategies, as with every challenge you...

    Complications...

Also harder to control if you have an infection.....the problem may simply be because of that xx

    Complications...

Don't worry about the protein ---it will happen from time to time. Just focus on good control & HBAc1 levels. xx

    Telling People You're Diabetic

I tell people but they seem to forget. Probably mention it more now since I've retired........
