    Type 1 + type 1

I know this isn't what your asking, but I don't have diabetes, but my boyfriend is type 1, I would so I am pretty darn helpful with it all. When I met him he very rarely did his insulin and just plain didn't care (even 10 years down the line when I met him). Since my nagging he has completely...

Hi all, I am posting for my boyfriend who is T1. Recently we went on holiday and he ended up loosing a lot of weight due to high BG levels. His BG are not that well controlled (we are still learning) what is the best way for him to put on weight? Should he be avoiding eating extra carbs as...

In a bit of a mess...

My partner has gone through kind of the same thing as you, he was diagnosed at 16 and is now 25, in all this time he has completely ignored it only doing insulin when he really really needs to and eating whatever the hell he likes, now after nearly 10 years he has managed to change his ways and...

    Night/morning hypos

Haha!! I can imagine that getting pretty annoying! Well he has had 10 years of diabetes and eating what he wants so far! He said since he's been keeping his sugar low, he hasn't been craving chocolate much! So if he would prefer not to, then well done to him. Although last night we did have a...

'handled' :) I was thinking this the other day, but my thinking is there son is going to live for a hell of a lot longer (I hope) so just be happy and supportive :) I don't know if you read my first post on here, which was about his mum that gives him 3-4...

    Night/morning hypos

Thanks :) to others it may not seem he is doing exceptionally well with the occasional forgetting to test and stuff, but for us it's a massive step, and I couldn't be happier, we spoke last night and he says he feels better in himself and that he feels like he is kind of making me proud in a...

    Night/morning hypos

Thank you, that means a lot to hear :) I think what you done is a very good idea, although I do calculate what's in his meals and how much I reckon he should do, just to make it a bit easier for him. But he is starting to work it out himself but if it saves him getting a bit down about it then I...

    Night/morning hypos

Haha, I didn't actually sit him at the table, I found out he was lying about it again. We talked I said I can't do this, he explained how he was feeling and he came to the realisation he was in denial and things need to change and wanted to prove to me that he could :) Thanks for your advise...

    Night/morning hypos

Hi all If any of you have read any of my previous posts regarding my boyfriend who will not look after himself, then hooray! I have had success, after nearly splitting up because of this he has changed his ways and started injecting Lantus and Novorapid, testing blood sugars and carb counting...

    Sugar free biscuits and carbs?

Hi! I bought my partner who is type 1 diabetic some sugar free biscuits. He is just learning how to carb count, we noticed although the sugar content is very low, the carbs are 10g per 2 biscuits, he has been eating about 4 at a time. His ratio we believe at the moment is roughly 1:20 (not...

Thanks, that seems quite helpful... Just need to raise the idea of doing it before/after lunch! Don't think that's going to happen... How much would you do after a large roast dinner? At the moment he does 4? Any ideas? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Nope, he doesn't ever test his sugar! The things is he just don't seem to care, he eats what he wants, when he wants. Untll we have a big argument about it, he has got better.. just no where near enough! I will suggest it to him, but I know the answer already. :(
