I was told only people on pumps would be getting the Libre 3.

    Type 1 Painful Corn!

I have a corn on the underside of my big toe. I saw an NHS podiatrist who told me that they don’t remove corns anymore - they just file down the hard skin so that the pressure on the corn is reduced. She told me that I should periodically repeat this at home. The result is that I still have the...

    Lunch Breaks

I’m back to work as a shop assistant tomorrow and, because the shop’s opening hours have been temporarily reduced due to COVID, we are now only entitled to a 15 minute lunch break. I don’t think that’s an adequate amount of time in which to go to the toilet, wash my hands, test my blood sugars...

    Let's have a grumble!

You took the words right out of my mouth! Instead of taking offence, why don't people try to pass on a bit of knowledge about their diabetes and how it affects their lives? Even people who've known you for years might not actually understand the complexities of our diet and, if you jump down...

    Let's have a grumble!

I know what you mean but, providing it's not too frequently, I'm prepared to do it because I don't want to limit my social life unnecessarily. Also, most places do healthier options so I just try to pick the best choice with the lowest carbs. I'm vegetarian so I'm used to having limited options...

    Let's have a grumble!

I do that too - childish maybe but I won't have other people deciding what I can and can't eat

    Let's have a grumble!

I'm really surprised by these comments. I've been diabetic for nearly 40 years and find that the vast majority of people just accept me declining food without questioning it. What does make me cross though is when someone says 'oh, you're not allowed these' and whips past me with the goodies...

    Hypos and Time Loss

Thanks for all your replies. I should have treated the hypo and then eaten my dinner and I'm not sure why I didn't. I guess however long we've been diabetic we all still make silly mistakes or don't treat it with the respect it deserves. I will be more careful in future. Good title suggestion...

    Hypos and Time Loss

Home made tomato and lentil soup and brown bread. It wasn't so much the going hypo as the having no recollection of what happened. I'll give my diabetes nurse a ring and discuss it with her.

    Hypos and Time Loss

I'm wasn't sure how to title this but hopefully I can coherently explain what happened to me this evening. I'm 49 and have had type one diabetes for 37 years. I have no serious problems with with my blood sugars or hypo awareness. Before dinner I had low blood sugars - 2.3 - but decided to just...

    Dupuytren's Contracture...

I'm a T1 of 35 years standing and have DC in both hands - all fingers and thumbs - for about five years. My palms are very lumpy but my fingers are still straight. My aunt, father and grandfather all had/have it but my two sisters - both non-diabetic don't. I saw a hand consultant who didn't...

Is controlling your blood glucose level enough?enough

Nuts are low carb but they're high in calories which isn't so good.
