    COVID vaccination

I can see where you are coming from with this statement- not your quote I hasten to add, but that just throws that there's maybe something to hide and there's not...

    Type 1 diabetic since 1982 .

First and foremost the NHS has a duty of care to each of its patients. Write to your consultant at the hospital and GP and complain. Also send a copy to the hospital board with the complaint. Make sure that all know what you are doing and copying in to the complaint. The next move will be...

    ISIG on Medtronic 640G CMG

I am a long term T1 diabetic (55yrs) and having been on a pump for the last 10 or so years and the last 2 using the CGM, I seem to be hitting a problem with the ISIG level which is reading lower than normal. (The sensor reading is also reading lower than my BG level also 99% of the time). I have...

My daughter wont take her insulin

I'm sorry to hear about all your troubles, the teenage years are probably the worst, but it should get better with time. remember your daughter too is under a lot of pressure which is only her perception of it. different people react differently to the same things - I was one of the lucky ones...

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

Never tried them because they are more chewy and don't dissolve as quick. I found another good 'sweetie was trebor soft mints. The mint allows faster absorbtion of the sugars by increasing the blood supply to the stomach - whether this is proven or not might be iffy. Worked for me though. (...

Useful tools and links for T1Ds

Another fantastic book is PUMPING INSULIN by John Walsh and Ruth Roberts. this was my bible when I first went on a pump just over 10 yrs ago. I would recommend Stephen Ponders - SUGAR SURFING as mentioned above also.

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

My trick with the Jelly Babies and fruit pastilles was to put them into an empty test strip container which can be used then refilled. Better for the environment too - hey ho. I could cut up the babys - 3=around 12g cho and could fit in 4 pastilles into a contour container. which gave 16g...

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

Have tried quite a few flavour but....still don't like them. Maybe its the sweetness I'm not keen on - empty nutrition wise too. If I'm going to take something I would rather it wasn't too sweet. That's just me though. If necessary I would take anything just as most of us would.

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

Sorry for the late reply. I had to google shrimp & banana sweets so haven't tried them. I might get a packet as the grandchildren would probably eat them if I don't like them. I'm not much of a sweetie person, but they don't look too packed with sugar. Will give them a try. Thank you. I answered...

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

No not at all. I know how you feel. I've been around a lot of years with this way of life and I felt you were just watching my back - so no worries and thank you for that. We have to learn to live with this condition and not let it live our lives for us. We probably all do a daft thing now and...

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

Yes I know about Jelly Babies - not my first go to choice as the taste is so false. Same goes for jelly pastilles which are harder to chew if you are very low. (ps once took a mars bar when very low and it was like trying to wade through thick treacle to get it down my throat). Found bountys...

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

This was always the plan. Just wondered if anyone had any different ideas, and I have found that the milk does it bring it up but just a little slower and it doesn't over treat it.

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

Yes 99% of the time. I have had a problem with wheat for the last 20+ years so wouldn't reach for the biscuit tin if I can help it - again if necessary I would. I think anyone in a state of hypo would put anything in there mouth if the result would return a normal BG.

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

Thank you - yes I am aware of all your points and I would if necessary take the required action.. I've been diabetic for over 50 years and its the LC diet that is the newer regime for me. I have been trying to follow it for quite some time now and not really getting anywhere. I've lost only a...

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

Im on a CGM and have been T1 for over 50 yrs. My control is very good except for the usual ups and down we all get. That goes with the territory unfortunately. I was told by one DSN to do nothing as the pump goes into suspend mode - there was no need to. This is rather foreign to us all, but I...

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

Thank you that sounds like a good plan. I hate the tablets, but would take them if necessary. Yes the milk is quite slow, but I have managed to stay above the 4-4.5 mark so far before taking action and not really gone into a full hypo mode. I will take your advice to keep a few packs of glucose...

    Type 1 Hypo remedy

What as a matter of interest do T1D's take to remedy a hypo on a low carb diet? Keto and LC diets say to avoid Fruit Juices and Glucose which would technically take you out of Ketosis. I have been taking Yazoo milk shakes which are unsweetened and although the choc ones only contain 10g carbs...
