Hi Justfocus,
Keep an eye on your levels now you are getting down lower. The Gliclazide has obviously done it's job and got you running lower. I had to quit taking them once I got down in the recommended range as they kept pulling my sugars down too low too quick. I would be about 5 and then an hour later under 4. I also found I was waking in the night hungry and if I didn't eat I'd liver dump and be higher in the morning. I told my nurse and she said stop taking them, I'm just on Metformin now.

4.2 is fine. Hypo is below 4. A quick drop like that can give you symptoms of a hypo though, it does with me.
Don't go to bed with readings like that though, as it could drop overnight. A large bit of cake is a bit OTT, a piece of bread (long acting carbs) or similar would be enough imo.

Edit: just seen your most recent post, yes the cake was OTT then!

Hi HLW
what would you recommend i should do at the moment?
(I could'nt half eat a scooby snack!)

Nothing you can do to lower the blood sugar, as you don't have insulin. Just keep hydrated was what I was told, before I was on insulin, when I had high blood sugar.

I meant don't go to bed with readings of 4.2, sorry I was typing my post before I saw your newest post.

Saw there were some suggestions about cutting out the gliclazide but do make sure you consult with your diabetic nurse or doctor before doing that. My nurse advised that if my levels did appear to be going low and it was a weekend or I was away was to cut one of the gliclazide in half which they do easily with that line down the middle. Then monitor to see whether it was having the desired effct.
Regards
Jeremy
