Hi to all,
been a while since last post and thought would share experiences. i moved house and with it changed GP. from the point of diagnosis i had not had an hba1c test. after trying to reduce cholestral by diet i ended up on statins. there was much debate about statins last time i was on and i can only give my experience, absolutely NO side affects whatsoever. i never saw my other GP never summonsed for tests etc so on changing to my new GP the difference is IMMENSE!! had hba1c test came back 38 cholestral came back 3.3 and balance within the correct parameters liver and kidney function normal, BP which i am not medicated for 110/70 . the surgery has a diabetic clinic with a specialist diabetic GP they will see me every 12 months or i can go and see them if i have any concerns WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!
i believe the results are due to the following:- cholestral without doubt the statins, BGL, metformin, low carb diet plenty of testing and learning what foods i tolerate and what to give a miss and great advice from this site, but the major one i believe is the weight loss and exercise i have maintained(i do an hour in the gym 4 times a week as a minimum mixed between weights and cardio) the GP believes that if i was to lose another 14 pound we could consider reducing the metformin with a view to stopping it!!
when i considered this i am reluctant to stop altogether based on it having other qualities, appetite suppressant, possible alzheimers defence and possible some cancer repellent qualities plus i have no side affects with the metformin.
having said that to lose another 14 pound would be extremely difficult as my weight has leveled out for the past 9 month varying a pound here and there so i do not think this will happen but i did feel pretty good about myself.
so it is all possible and hope people can take some good from my experience
