Hello,
I have tried to find people on this Diabetes forum who are beating or reversing diabetes but am usually met with ridicule and little enthusiasm. Although I must say there have been a handful of supportive people. Anyway, I was diagnosed in October and had a reading of 127. I stopped drinking coke and all other drinks INCLUDING diet ones (as the chemicals actually inhibit weight loss). Anyway, I lost weight but didn't have much change in my test it was 125. I decided that I had to take a serious look at how to fight this without the ****** meds that the drug companies want us all addicted to......... So I went for the RAW Vegan detox WITH NO FRUIT and any kind of sugar. I didnt get into it fully in the first month becuase its impossible to only eat cold food in the winter. In January I was about 50% raw and 80% vegan, I was eating good fish, good quality chicken, and dairy BUT NOT SUGAR LADEN MILK. In February and March I was about 80% raw vegan. I have been seriously LOW CARB because Carbs are loaded with sugar. Anyway I was tested last week and got the results yesterday I have gone from 125 down to 72. YES WITHOUT MEDS. WHY are more people not doing this, where is the RAW Vegan Forum???? The Americans and the Australians believe its possible why dont the Brits????? Next test I hope to be in the normal range. AND I hope to stay that way. I want to be one of the people who beat this nasty little disease for good. Its possible, I am doing it.
My diabetic nurse said "I am shocked, I didnt think you could do it, well done, you have done a fantastic job, I have never seen a drop like this before". She didnt believe I could do it, she wanted me on those meds straight away, I said NO and am so pleased I did. I reckon that Coke have shares in the medicine companies and so do the HFCS companies, the more secret sugar they load into our food, the more chemicals they put in in the name of low fat, low sugar, low salt - the more drugs we will need and the more money they make. So please give it a chance if you truly have the will power to do it. If you dont believe me, thats fine by me, I am the one who has fought and is starting to win the drug free way. Diabetes is not for life, it is reversible and dont let anyone else tell you otherwise.

Well Done.. :D

I am too hoping to beat this nasty disease. I don't test my blood sugars, and I have M.E as well as being diabetic - but I am also on the verge of having my anorexia back. My weight is coming down really well - and I no longer feel as if I am diabetic. I don't take medication for it and am not due a blood test till June, as I am petrified of needles, so they don't want me in a panic mode.

On diagnosis of the diabetes my blood glucose was 13.7 fasting, 2 months later it was 8. That was not my HBA1c, I cannot remember what that was - but my cholesterol was really good < 4 if I remember rightly.
My weight did go up to nearly 19 stone, but I was already on a diet - so on diagnosis of diabetes, it was 16 stone 7lbs.
weight today (12/4/13) weight is 11 stone 1lb (BMI 25.1). Yes weight is sticking a little bit but that is to be expected.

I went out in my wheelchair today - bought a size 12 pair of jeans! TOO BIG!!!!!!!!!

My experience is very similar to Nike69. Didn't fancy the carrier bag of pills prescribed by the "Diabetic Nurse".(Incidentally, I was told that I was too far gone to consider, diet and exercise). Disregarding this advice, I followed a similar diet, not quite as strict as Nike's but no sugar and no carbs plus swimming/gym most days. I have posted previously on this topic and my blood glucose went from 15 to somewhere in the 6 range with the odd 5s. Like Nike, the Diabetic Nurse could not believe the difference and took me off most of the drugs and left me on one metformin in the morning.. I was told to take statins but haven't done so, so far. Not sure about statins. Like some of the people on here, I was not grossly overweight, and have gone from something like 13.5 stone to 11.5. Perhaps I have lost too much weight. It's a difficult situation, die without food and die with food, a bit of an exaggeration I know, but there is an element of truth in there. I have introduced some fruit, berries, into my diet which is probably not a great idea. I don't seem to be able to shift my bg levels to the 5s on a regular basis. One bit of advice I would ask is that if I upped my Metformin dose, might this get my bg level into the 5s or do I just live with mid 6s?
