Hi I used to have the same problem and discovered it was that any whole grain cereals mixed with the milk would spike my BGI took my blood readings at 8am this morning, before breakfast and the reading was 13.00 I had porridge made with skimmed milk and a few raspberries. Out with grandson to walk around the shops looking for cardboard Easter eggs. Lunch in cafe at 1pm toasted ciabatta with a small amount of brie. Chai tea (no milk or sugar).
.Then now at 5pm I have taken my sugar levels and I'm 17.5 I'm still looking into info about the LCHF diet. What did I eat to make my sugars that bad? On Thursday before tea I managed to get my levels down to 8.5
I only have one testing stick left, I ordered more from Amazon 'arriving Saturday (today)..... not!
I've the diabetic nurse in 2 wks time, I really would like to show her that I'm lowering my levels. In a month I've managed to lose just under a stone in weight by not eating biscuits and pickign between meals, plus walking lot.
I did try going back on half dose metformin SR, but stomach cramps returned so came off it again. Feel better in myself.
My husband thinks I shouldn't test my blood that I'm a hypochondriac. I think I'm now at last trying to control my condition. I've been very good and had NO chocolate eggs that were offered in the shops today!
Thanks for 'listening' to me
Thanks for that link. There are some nice recipes on there.@berylc this is the l ink http://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/60-seconds
I've just looked at the dietdoctor and it has given me lots of good advice. I've been to Tesco and bought greek yogurt, cream and raspberries (Can I eat any berry? Strawberry, blueberry. Can't think of another berry at this late hour!). Breakfast tomorrow will be a poached egg with butter dip, yogurt and rasps. Lunch is roast beef and veg (no tatties). No yorkshire puddings!
I'll keep my last testing strip for a couple of days!
The diet doc recommends 8 hrs sleep a night, so I guess I had better get off here and go to bed!
