Spent the afternoon reading all the info I could find around 16:8 fasting and the effects of combining with the LCHF diet I'm already eating. I decided the best window for me to eat will be the 1200 to 2000hrs slot as quite often have to force myself to eat before 1400hrs. However, getting used to not eating after 2000hrs may be tough as have always been more of a late eater.

Anyway the question is when do people test their fasting BGL if doing this way of eating; do you test when you first wake and get out of bed or do you wait and test just before you eat. On the mornings I dont eat breakfast I have been testing first thing and then before breaking my fast (breakfast/lunch). But, which one do I record as my fasting reading.

Many thanks in advance once again.

I use the reading when I first get up as my fasting reading. When fasting I continue to measure bloods at the times I would otherwise have been eating (and again 2 hours later) so that I have a consistent view of progress.

Just test your BG at the same time each date in relation to the meals you have. I test it 2hr after my evening meal. There is nothing special about fasting BG, you just need a number you can track to see your progress, you should care about changes in this number, not too much about what it is.
