Yes, it is fairly typical in that it takes a bit of time to get your HbA1c right down. 7% is heading in the right direction. It will come down some more yet, and then it might stabilise at some figure or another.

My guess is give it another 6 months and if it isn't below 7% your doc might offer meds of some sort, probably Metformin. Don't be to anti meds, we all vary and the only way to get the figures down for some is one form of medication or another. The important thing is to get it down a bit more maybe 6.5% is doable?

My doctor told me that he was looking for a reduction to below 7% but didn't give me a specific timescale. Fortunately it came down quite well over six months or so (see below)

at 6.2 i reached the level that my diabetician thought that my control as too tight ( ditto new one at 5.7) so I just tell them I value my eyes/feet :twisted:

I'd like to be lower too. I think we all would and it seems that some of us can manage it while others find it much harder. I personally could and should exercise better control than I do.

But the various "experts", "doctors" and "health authorities" state quite a wide range of Hba1c control to avoid complications and there doesn't seem to be a general consensus on the absolute levels required. I think most of us take this to mean "get it as low as you can".

Certainly, there are many who would contend that the 6.1 I have achieved is still to high, but equally the NHS seems to think its pretty good.
