2 meals per day

My diabetic partner is unwell at the moment and is not getting up until lunch time. He is on the multiple injections of Humilin regime so jabs before each meal. Is it necessary to squeeze 3 meals into his day to get the usual amount of insulin or can he inject twice for the 2 meals that would fit into the rest of his day? Thanks
