soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
theory 1
Diabetic eye damage is selective towards seeing dirt.
I have spent an hour this morning nagging! and complaining about having to re-clean the bathroom I spent 2 hours on yesterday and the hob, which I also cleaned thoroughly yesterday.
theory 2
Central heating is the cause of weight gain.
I spent the weekend staying with an old friend in a very cold house. log burners in living rooms, but 2 jumpers needed everywhere else,OK as long as you keep moving.
I ate more than usual, but weight stayed stable. Not a long time, but I can gain a pound a day from nothing.
Theory 2 I am sure has some validity.
I find it very difficult to keep warm, even when everyone else is toasty. I walked a couple of hilly miles with a group the other day. I was wearing a lot of layers. Including leggings under my craghoppers! and at the end, I had unzipped my jacket , but other people had taken theirs off!

I'm sure you are correct about the central heating hana. I would have thought being cold would cause your body to burn more "fuel" to keep itself warm thus causing weight loss. Rather draconian way to lose weight though!!!

I'm sure my father ( dead these 19 years) once told me of a health clinic somwhere in Germany, which specialised in weightt loss treatment and kept all its patients cold. I just wish i could keep warm. Being cold is miserable. I got so cold sightseeing inSherborne last weekend, that my shiver muscles gave up and went into tetany. My circulation is fine, though and my hands didn't go blue or any of the other things I hear about.

I just can't get warm at all this winter (first since dx). I can't remember ever feeling so cold. Lots of people both diabetic and non-diabetic saying the same though. No relief in sight either as I heard this is to be the coldest winter in a long time :( What with heating bills being so expensive it's a nightmare!

I am wearing a pair of very old pure wool trousers, that hang on me like a scarecrow, but are nearly keeping me warm. I put the fire on in the living room for the dogs. They don't want to go outside and the frost is still on the grass.

Frosty here too. No thaw for two days (brrrrrr). Central heating up high and my feet are still cold.
My dog used to hog the fire too. He was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I had to have him put to sleep last august aged 15. Still devastated. Don't think I will ever get another dog. I miss him like mad.

IU'm sure Caity, that in this credit crunch of hard times, there's a lonely doggy in a rescue centre somewhere just waiting to come and love you. I have 3 Italian Greyhounds. ranging from Granny, Pippi, 13 years old and blind, Gus, her son, who doesn't know that 8 is a SENIOR dog and Molly his 4 year old daughter who is made of springs and is the "nicest" dog I've ever Known. I plan to teach her to be a PAT dog when we both get more time to go visit people who need her.

This is a temporary phenomenon which will resolve as you get old.

Mother goes round "cleaning" things which makes my life harder as they usually end up dirtier and harder for me to clean.

Sorry I'm not helping much am I?

Hana,

Too scared to go to a rescue centre as I know I would lose all sense of reason and come home with half a dozen! I'm such a softie. But rest assured if I do change my mind it will definitely be a rescue dog. There are so many of them needing good homes. Great idea about training your dog to be a pat dog. It makes such a difference to people who live in homes etc to have that kind of contact with an animal.
