Type 1
Hi there!

I have had type 1 for 30 years now.
I so far have no complications.

I have a few questions about things that I have noticed for many years, but not really thought about asking before.
I have not been apart of a diabetes forum before.

1. Do you as a type 1 experience that you have a demand for more sleep than your friends that do not have diabetes?
I can sleep 6 hours and work if my life demands it, but if I dont have anything I must attend then I easily sleep for 10-12 hours.
Could it be related to my diabetes? The body needs more hours to "restore/repair"?

Question 2.
When my sugar is high (16 mml or more) i get sort of "flashes of white/blurry vision for half a second.
Its just fast and passes in the blink of an eye, but it correlates to the high sugar. I have no problems with my vision in general and the blood vessels on the back of my eye are healthy.
Anyone experienced this?

Extra question:
What is the best cgm today 2020. Is there anything that is really autonomous? New stuff. I have a flash libre.

All the best!

1) - I can survive ok on five hours, but with no alarms will sleep for 13. I don’t think it’s a diabetes thing for me, I was like that before diagnosis.
2) can’t answer that, I’m afraid!
3) Dexcom G6 (and if you want really autonomous, build it into a diy artificial pancreas system like Loop) - but you can pimp your Libre with a MiaoMiao transmitter and get CGM capabilities like alarms.
