{Update} My C-Pep and GAD results are back, tested positive for Antibodies and C-Pep level low.Now re-classed late onset type 1.Relieved yet upset about diagnosis and not sure how I feel about it yet.
Starting Byetta next friday although my consultant feels I will need insulin therapy but we've agreed to try the Byetta for 1 month and review on 22nd may at clinic to see IF it has made a difference or not-otherwise Insulin therapy from then on! I'm not afraid of injecting BUT I am afraid of Hypo's and losing my driving Licence! :(

Glad things are moving forward Paul. Don't be too worried. There are loads of people on the forum who can support and advise you and you know by now you just have to ask!

At least you know what your dealing with Paul, try not to worry about losing your license as I'm sure you'll be fine :)

It's good that you've got a definitive diagnosis Paul :D

That's good. I'm sure you'll feel a whole lot better when you have the right treatment to get those levels into more normal ranges.
Don't worry about licences and hypos for the moment. Remember that often on these forums you are more likely to hear the worst case scenarios rather than the stories of people just plodding along without any serious hypos and so no problems with their licence.

Thanks Stephen!

I'm still trying to take it all in at the moment but at least I know I'm not going crazy anymore-the If's and But's were driving me mad recently not knowing what or who I was anymore.still,I know there's a wealth of good information about type 1, injecting,Hypo's etc on this forum so I'm going to put my reading glasses on and research all I can.

Paul, when anything happens, I turn into the demon researcher. I do have a research background so it helps, but I have to know the ins and outs of the entire thing. When I was diagnosed diabetic I read and read and read. I also asked questions, sulked, vented and cried here. The over riding feeling inside of me, was to be the best I could be. Diabetes had won the battle, I would win the war. I am a very determined person, and when I get my sights on something, there is no barrier I won't attempt to cross. I may not be able to cross all barriers, but there is not one person who could ever accuse me of not trying.

Now you have your diagnosis you can plan how you are going to control things. Don't put worries and stresses in your way until you have to. In other words cross bridges when you get to them. Good luck and you know I am always around if you need a chat. I am probably old enough to be your mom  so may be able to be a support. You'll do it, grit your teeth, you CAN do it!

HI Paul,

Glad you've finally got a firm diagnosis. After everything else you've had to go through to you must be exhausted and relieved. All you can do now is take it one day at a time and with the information and help from your Endo and all the experienced and helpful T1s on here it will bet better. You can do it .

Lucy.
