2 week wobble

It's now 2weeks since it was confiirmed that I have type 2 diabetes. I went to see the practice nurse who gave me a healthy eating leaflet and told me not to bother checking my blood sugars myself as my hb1ac was 5.6 . Having read The type 2diabetes first year I decided to ignore this and began testing at different times of the day, eating like a saint and exercising more.
I'm now having a wobble in confidence! I can't get a pre meal bm below 5.6 and most of my 2 hour BM are 9-11. I have lost no weight and I'm fed up. I've been taking the metformin 3 times a day as normal ( have taken it for pcos for years).
My husband thinks that i'm reading and stressing too much as it's only minor diabetes!
I feel that my family and friends have made e appropriate fuss at diagnosis but have gone back to business as usual and don't want to talk about it.
It's just dawned on me that this isn't a short term diet but forever and I'm feeling sorry for myself!
Anyone got any good ideas for getting over the miserables?
Thanks for the moan! I'll now go and take the dog out for a walk in the rain!

So now you're miserable and you've got a miserable wet dog!

All I can say, Summermum, is hang on in there! I too am having problems with weight loss, even though I know I'm doing nothing wrong (well, apart from last weekend . . .!), but I'm putting that down to insulin resistance and just keep plodding on. The diet will get easier when the weather is better - amazing how a bit of sunshine cheers you up!

Maybe your bg is not dropping very fast because you've been on the metformin for a while for the PCOS, so in effect you're just controlling by diet at the moment, as far as your body is concerned. The only thing I can suggest is to go very very low carb for a fortnight - about 20g per day - and see if that helps. You can find my diet on the Low Carb Forum under 'Viv's Diet' - first topic on that thread. I thought I'd got the link but I can't get it to go live!

Keep smiling

So SO sorry summer
i have just read your post .Firstly and importantly is just because your dieting it does'nt mean that you lost weight on the scales (i have lost quite a lot of my clothes size but not a lot on the scales! This may sound crazy but its true. Now come on after your post to me and our commitment we did say we would compare notes on this .Were having an off day (thats all) stick in there x.

Hi Summermum - This is to help Viv out by giving you the link to her excellent diet - here it is:

By the way I think the dog would appreciate a walk even if it's raining. Give him a good rub with a towel afterwards which he will enjoy as well Cheer you up too
