Liver normal

All ok i think so just have to see the consultant next week for his comments. Oh yeh and those horrible eye drops and photographs to look forward to.

Sounds very good to me :)

I would hope your consultant is very happy! i think mine would fall off his chair if my hba1c was 5.7%

Oh no the lovely eye drops! mine is due in a few months..

it's a funny old game, i was diagnosed T1 May 2010, my first appointment with the consultant was in august 2010. my HBA1C was 7.1, she wrote satisfactory on my records. when i saw her in february my HBA1C was 5.7, she said it was too low, too much like a non-diabetic! then i see people on here saying that 5.7 is really good

good luck with the eye drops

Personally, I think if you have a HbA1c of 5.7, and achieve it without lots of hypos, you are doing really (x many) well, and should be congratulated by your Dr.

If you have a HbA1C of 5.7, but have lots of hypos, then yes, possibly you could afford to increase your average BG slightly, if it allowed you more stability.

I think that some Drs (understandably) fail to pick up that we are all different, and depending on lifestyle, what you do during you time etc means that some people can achieve such fantastic results. I got a HcA1C of 5. (something) once, but it was atthe expense of quality of life due to frequent hypos...but if you can do it without, I am very jealous and you have my admiration.

thanks sugar2.

i don't have hypos, i did have fairly regular bs readings in the low 4s but never felt anything except hungry! these readings are now up in the 5s and i'm concerned that this will mean my average will be higher again and that the higher readings may affect my eyes / blood circulation etc

i've only ever had one hypo - i was at work, sat down to eat my lunch and did my novorapid injection. then the phone starting going mad, colleagues kept coming in and asking me things and it took over an hour to eat my lunch. almost as soon as the hypo started i guess the food started to work its way through and i came back out of it. it was a horrible feeling and one i have no desire to revisit.

i ride a motorbike so am very careful not to do anything that may affect my ability to ride it safely, they are dangerous enough at the best of times!

i was diagnosed just over a year ago as T1 but at my last appointment i was told they now think it's T2 but had just gone undiagnosed for a long time.

i find it rather confusing at times with the T1/T2, HBA1C results but as you say we are all different. i am at the point where i don't really listen to the dr or consultant but just work to keep my readings around the 5 mark and hope that will ensure my future health will be as good as it can be given i have this horrible condition

I got the same response from my Dr when I hit 5.7.
Was told it was too low and I was obviously having lots of hypos.
I was promptly sent to see the DSN before I left, I sat down and had a chat with the senior DSN and one of the DAFNE educators (this was before I did my DAFNE course) and told them all of what I did and showed them to typical reults.

Their reposonse was, "We don't know why Dr *** sent you to see us because you are doing brilliantly"
So these days I tend to ignore the Dr and pay more attention to the DSNs. They seem to have more of a clue as to the practical nature of this condition.

Awesome news on cementing your place in the 5 club :)
