Hi folks, tonight my blood sugar was 22.4mmol which is higher when I was first diagnosed. I was diagnosed 3 years ago with an HBA1C of 136 but managed to reverse in 1 Year to an HBA1C of 42. Last year I’ve let slip, not tested blood much, in October my HBA1c was 61 and tonight my reading has shocked me. I’m showing no signs of hyperglycaemia but did feel slightly woozy. Does anyone think this maybe a one off or a major cause for concern? Heart rate is fairly low at 67bpm

Cheers

Dean

Hi,
Monitor your blood sugars regularly. Drink lots of fluids it will help, exercise will also bring it down.
Maybe your sickening for an infection as this can cause high bm's.
Hope you get control back soon.
Take care

Which diabetes medications are you on @dinglis77 ? Knowing that will help us to help you.

When you tested and saw a level of 22.4, when and what did you last eat?

Keep testing every 15 minutes. If it keeps creeping up you may need to ring 111. That would be a cause for concern.

Hi, thanks for your advice. I’m drinking lots of water and shall fast until tomorrow then check again. Had too many carbs today but didn’t expect to be that high. Had a chest infection over a week ago so maybe linked to that.

I’m not on medication anymore , was only on Gliclazide for 6 months, 1 tablet a day. Last ate Pizza at 7pm obviously not a good idea. Will keep checking, thanks.

Thanks for the info. You can put "diet only" on your profile. That will stop further questions about it.

Nope, pizza is not a good idea - and it can keep on rising, and produce a peak several hours later. It is known as the "pizza effect"
