Yeh I really want to get into the habit of testing before meals as it is so important for me like many others to get back on track! Setting an alarm is a good idea and may look into doing that until I get into a routine! ThanksGet into a routine, i'd say. I test as soon as I get out of bed, then throughout the day, including after meals. I suppose in my mind I connect it with food to some extent, so when I think about lunch, I think 'test and insulin', etc
You could also use your phone to set alarms.
Yeh azure said similar! Just getting into the habit of listening to alarms! Quite lazy on alarm setting but hopefully if I have a message pop up on my phone it will remind me more than having just a sound!Hi David. Im like clock work for checking mine! To get into a habit, why dont you set 3-4 alarms a day to remind you (on vibrate!!). Once in the morning before breakfast, once before lunch, before tea and before bed. You'll soon remember!
Thanks so much! Been very stressful but glad to be married! Both those things you suggested the book and website I will definitely look into thanks for that!Congratulations to you both
Without bg testing its impossible to get your bg under control, start by getting into a routine where you test your bg before your meal-time injection, this way you can see if a correction dose is needed or not and will hopefully set the ball rolling on bg testing again.
Try and get a copy of the book Think Like a Pancreas as this will help you get back on track as it covers most aspects of type 1 diabetes management, with regards to your laser treatment for retinopathy, have a look at the following website as it has a wealth of information on the condition and offers advice on keeping your bg, bp and cholesterol levels under control:

Good luck.
I have had the monitor attached to me a few years ago that showed every night I went below 1 around 2am! No wonder when I was a little younger my mum always heard me struggle around 2am or 3am! I am more bothered about future health issues now and If me and my wife in a few years time decide to have children I don't want to have struggles myself!Yea i know what you mean. I rely heavily on the bed time check just in case im a bit too low
Bless you! Well hopefully you will keep strong and keep up with diabetes control! Hope you enjoy making future plans too!I completely understand. Im 32 now and thinking of children soon and it scares me!
