I had my 3 month diabetic blood test. I just rang the surgery for the results. It's 7.3%. 3 months ago it was 8.8. I am happy but the diabetic nurse did say 3 months ago, that to stay on the victoza, it has to be in the 6,s.
I am seeing the diabetic nurse tomorrow to discuss the results and to see where I go about going onto another diabetic med to replace the victoza

well done @ally1 :) that's definitely going in the right direction anyhow. I'm sure you're pleased.

I get my hbA1c result next week (have to wait for my doc to return) and I'm not expecting it to be good as my last 3 months has been hellish with various sicknesses and blood sugars being high. My doc knows I've not had a good time though and I've whinged to him about my blood sugars several times. I've just got a request from my endo that he wants to catch up with me in October so that's not too far off. If my hbA1c is as bad I think it may be he would likely say something. But then also he tends to discuss all my other medical issues and their impact on my sugar levels as well. But me being me I hate it when I don't get a good result... it's a bit depressing.

Thank you. I am a little disappointed. I see the diabetic nurse tomorrow and she said she wanted my average level to be in the 6,s. I am expecting to be taken of the victoza and put onto something ng else

Well done @ally1 . I have been watching your daily FBG posts. They would suggest that while your not in the 6's yet, you're well on the way. If you have the stats on a print out it might be worth sharing with your HCP

Well done on that reduction, @ally1 .

Whilst you may not be in the 6s, yet, you're not a million miles off and certainly closer than at your last test. If you're finding Victoza suits you, I would be asking the nurse for a bit longer to make further progress. Maybe she can tweak your Victoza dose up a bit, or if not, maybe just a few adjustments to what you're eating might be helpful.

Again, well done. You've struggled for so long, it would be a shame to change t something different now you're coming along. Do take your meter along to the appointment so that your nurse cal look through it if she wants to.

Thank you. When I saw the diabetic nurse 3 months ago, she did say that if my latest blood test was, t in the 6,s, then she wants me off the victosa and also I am not losing the weight that is supposed to happen with victosa.

Ally - I really feel your pain. Are you still off cigarettes, or was that just one thing too many for now? If you're still off them, I'd add that to the argument for staying on the Victoza as you may still be adjusting.

I will say again though, Ally, very well done shifting your HbA1c well in the right direction. I know you've had more than your fair share of challenges along the way.

I have the odd cigarette. When I gave up, I admit I did eat a bit more but am now on the straight and narrow

Hi @ally1
Well done on a great reduction. I just hope the nurse sees the progress you have made as you are only just above the 6's. I would suggest pleading for a 3 month extension.

Ally - Tell her all that, because for a time, when you gave up, by your own admission you found it difficult and were snacking or eating differently.

You could really do with just getting on with it, without further change for a while.

Fingers crossed for you.

Well done @alli1 It's been a real struggle for you and it's good to see the effort you have put in paying of you must try and convince your DN that what you need now is consistency and not to have your meds changed at this point.

Try and take the positive - your levels are coming down, you are managing without too many cigarettes, you have got the food under control even though you had a time where you struggled. I know how you feel I was there not so long ago and I felt really bad when the doctor increased my medication despite my improvements --- so regardless of how the appointment goes, keep remembering you have done extremely well - this is not a race but a change for life and you are getting there.....
Keeping fingers crossed for you to have a really good appointment.

Have seen the diabetic nurse. Went well and have lost 5 kilos in 3 months. Not alot but in that time I had put weight on by over eating. I,m to stay on the victoza and metformin and will have a review in December. The nurse did say that the victoza is a short term med.

So pleased to hear that.

I'm really, really pleased for you Ally. If during the time since you were last weighed you had gained weight then lost it again, then the 5kg you have lost would actually be more, if you see what I mean. If you knew what your highest weight had been (when you gained, since last weighing) you might be a bit more impressed with yourself.

You need just a little period of stability now, and I think you'll come along in leaps and bounds. Fingers crossed for you.
