- soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I managed 3 days without any medicine, but at the end of the third, I got a BG of 7.3, which I'm not going to allow. Yes I had eaten a carb  Which I suppose I shouldn't have.
So I went back to the Metformin and am down in the 5s, where I'm comfortable.
I know now I CAN do it, but it means a rigid adherence to the diet.
I think I understand the folks who prefer to do all their controlling by pharmacology. It's tempting, but I think I'll go back to using Metformin sparingly. It gives me a bit of safety margin.
With diabetes everything is a question of balance. I balance my occasional lapses with Metformin, which seems to suit me. At least my guts don't object to it.
I read the piece on the discovery of Insulin. thank you whover put up the link
. I already knew much of it, but the pictures of the diabetics whose lives were maintained on starvation diets for months were revealing.
Most of us definitely eat more than we absolutely need. I'm trying to work on that at the moment, but had a couple of low carb crispbreads with cheese mid morning. I'm using diversion to avoid the cleaning. I HATE housework. My daughter,son-in-law and granddaughter are off on holiday to Wales and they came round to collect a suitcase this morning and the clothes I bought the little person for her holiday( in Tesco's sale).
That stopped me and I haven't got back to it yet.
