Happy New Yr to one and all firstly
Now then diagnosed and put on medication Aug 2012 and really didn't find it to much of a issue to get my head round it all after the initial shock .. my medication is 2x00mg metformin 1x trajenta (linagliptin) per day
My first readings were high 18 - 24 so came on here and found that low carb may be the way to go .... gave it a try and the readings dropped dramatically to around the 10- 12 mark and happily i am now 6- 7 pre and 7-9 post meals when i do a test
Now my job takes me around all of Europe for several weeks at atime (HGV Driver) so different foods etc have always been in my mind ( even tho we do have caterring teams at they do cater for us ) , But saying this I think I may be a very lucky person as I only seem to get a spike in readings when i eat cerial based foods even museli , I have had white bread as Europe dont seem to do grannary or brown etc but only when i have had to , if i have rice i do have basmati which i believe is a good white rice ,pasta a small amount and the same with spuds .
so from this conclusion I think mycornflakes and other are out and if I keep my self to a small portion of spuds ,rice , pasta things seem to be going my way
