My name is Steven "Doc" Humphreys, and I was diagnosed about 14 months ago as a type 2 diabetic. My initial blood sugars were in the 450 point range. I tried following mainstream recommendations of 45 grams carbohydrates per meal and a 15 gram carbohydrate snack. I was put on a twice a day total of 1000 mg of Metformin and 10 mg of Glipizide. I tried this for several months, but found that I was on such a roller coaster of ups and downs it just wasn't working. Against my doctors advice I began to eat differently from information I had learned on the internet. I started to really lower my carbohydrates in my meals and within 6 months I had to stop taking the Glipizide, as it made my numbers too low. My weight also started to drop and I have lost 111 lbs. to date. My blood sugars are averaging about 85-100 now. All from cutting carbohydrates out of my diet and loosing weight.

That's a great reduction, welcome to the forum doc :)
