There isn't anything inherently magical about skipping breakfast - in fact - it would be impossible, etymologically speaking.
Provided one isn't snacking during the night, you have say, 11 hours between dinner at 8pm and breakfast at 7am. The idea behind skipping breakfast in the morning is that you can extend that fast into 15 or even 16 hours. The more time you spend not-eating, the more time your body has for non-eating jobs, like repairing and re-building. But - it isn't a hard, definite thing - do this; get this... It works better for some than others (but you've been managing fine with longer than 4-6 hours all your life..)
You may find that by lowering carbs, you will find that you want even less, or your taste changes... just try to listen to your own body - it's a journey, and only you will know what's best for you... but excellent first steps - that puts you well ahead of the general population...
