Hello, welcome to the forum :)

Yes, I've tried the 5:2 - I think I've tried most things now. I did it in conjunction with low carbing - so low carbing ALL the time with two days of the week fasting and only eating 500 cals on each of the fasting days (I had them all at dinner time). It is very do-able but not particularly effective. Michael Mosley devised the 5:2 diet and he also devised the Blood Sugar Diet which, in my opinion, was much better because it was focused on reducing blood sugar rather than just losing weight (which is what the 5:2 diet was devised to do). On the Blood Sugar Diet the idea is to lose weight fast on 800 calories a day every day. Here's a link to the website https://thebloodsugardiet.com/

I think its just me but I just don't have the willpower to keep to a low calorie diet any more - and I sort of blame a lifetime of being on one low calorie diet after another for me having diabetes now.
