5-2 diet

Has anyone read anything about this diet? Eat normal for five days and cut Down for two. I was reading it can prevent diabetes but can't make out if it can help if your already a diabetic. As I'm pre diabetic I was wondering if I should try it. I know T1 have to eat regular.
It was saying it lowers blood sugar.

I found that I was doing a 5.2 diet before I knew what is was called. When I was first experimenting with my meter I made up a table to show which meals raised the sugar by how much. Obviously I avoided the high ones afterwards. To replace them I made some stir fry meals with no carbs in except what might be in the veg. I have this a couple of times a week.

Ergo. I am a 5.2 person and I didn't even know it.

I have currently been on the 5;2 diet for 2 months and I have seen an increase rather than a decrease in my weight from 23 stone to nearly 24 stone. What I have on my 2 days are Oats and semi-skimmed milk for breakfast, and scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon. Plus diet coke, lemon n lime still water home made, and tea with sweetner.

My comments about your 5-2, Big Daddy are that the oats might be a problem since they are carby. The sausages are an unknown quantity because with some sausages, to get the texture right, they mix in rusk. By any other name rusk is flour (or twice baked bread) and few of us can eat anything made with flour.

Maybe some egg and bacon for breakfast. For lunch, if you like sausage eat a Mattesons smoked pork one with zero carbs. You could also eat a gammon steak. Corned beef is just about zero carbs.

The idea of the 5:2 diet, is that you eat 'normally' (for a diabetic e.g. lower carbs) then on the 2 days you eat about 600 calories.

I've been on the 5:2 for 12 weeks now. I've lost 1st 3lbs. Just got my hba1c back gone down from 8.6% to 7.3%. It works for me and my partner. Also I use Fitness Pal app on my eat days I try to stick to 1500 cals. Also I'm going gym 3 times a week.
