Can you use optuim plus 5 secounds in a 3 secounds optium xceed? Its just that the 5 secound ones are so much cheaper but it doesnt say anywhere whether they will workin in the 3 secound xceed.

As I understand it, the strip, once dipped in your hard earned blood, generates an electric current which is measured by your meter, and it's that bit that takes the 3 or 5 seconds. The calibration stick you get with each batch must give the meter that level of information.

FWIW I've used both 5s and 3s in my Xceed with no issues. The nice thing about the 3s strips is that they don't need as much blood as the 5s ones, which meant (for me at least) that the finger pricker could be set to a lower setting.

Have you registered your meter with Abbots? If so, you can apply for a free cable to link your meter to your PC, the SW isn't as feature rich as the the package from Bayer, still it produces a nice graph. They will also, like most manufacturers, will provide new batteries FOC, replacement meter, and meter upgrades.

I've been tempted to build an interface and develop something with a few more features, like the ability to add comments to a reading which would then appear on a graph - it's a bit expensive on printer ink producing nice colourful graphs and log books for your GP esp. when they zoom in on the high readings and ask "What's that all about then?". But like most manufacturers Abbots don't publish an interface :(
