Just got back from DSN, got my Hba1c results 5.9%. All thanks to lovely people and their Low Carb diet advice found on this forum.
I also lost 11kg weight and haven't feel hungry once.

6.7 to 5.9 that's a great result Daisy well done. AND a 24 llb weight loss, soon you will be "cured"! (Only joking).

Great result Daisy! You should be chuffed with that. Did your DSN also send you for a full blood panel?
I am curious because I am coming up to an HbA1c test and they will to the other blood tests as well. I am quite curious about effects of the low(er) carb diet on cholesterol. I don't think I am as worried about the results as I am about the grief one will get from any negative results in cholesterol measurements.

As I said above, I don't know that I am particularly worried about the results themselves, just the grief from the nurse. I am expecting my HDL to go up and my triglyceride to fall but the problem is the ldl measurement. The UK still measures the ldl as a total ldl weight when research has clearly shown that their are 2 types of ldl.... small/dense/hard and large/light/fluffy. The light fluffy are not connected with damage to arteries but are still counted as part of total ldl weight. Were the test to be split to show the difference, I would suspect that the small dense ldl would decline.... More important are the ratios of HDL to Triglyceride and Total Cholesterol. to HDL...and with regard to damage LDL can do is the inflammation caused by an out of control immune system cause by a diet filled with inflammatory foods.... but to convince my nurse of that may take some doing...

How long has it been since you started your diet? Another thing to think about with respect to your cholesterol tests is what is going on during the time you take the test. Keep in mind that as you loose weight (I don't know if you are doing that or not), you body dumps fatty acids and trapped triglycerides into the blood stream. As I am coming up to my tests in a couple of weeks, I have stabilized my weight for the last couple of weeks and will keep it steady until after the test...
