Me. It's better to know where you are so you can pick the right road to get to your destination.

Pre meal & 2 hours post meal for however many meals I eat on any one day, maybe also morning wake up/fasting tests.

On an LCHF diet I rarely snack as I don't either need the energy boost or feel the need to eat between meals, and as a diet controlled T2 I don't have to manage my glucose levels with insulin anyway so for me there's not real need to test then.

Occasionally at other times and for other reasons, e.g. to check for faster or slower rise afrer meals, or for possible reaction to (new) medication, stress, I'll do extra tesing. It depends on what I'm trying to discover.

So possibly on average 6-7 checks.

I average around 10 tests daily. These are the main ones...

  • Preprandial.
  • Two-hour postprandial.
  • Before driving, and < 2 hours thereafter if still driving.
  • When feeling hypo, to confirm. For me, this is once a day on average.
  • 15 minutes after hypo to confirm recovery, if necessary. If result still < 4 mmol/l, retest another 15 minutes later.
  • If any result > 14 mmol/l, retest one hour later to confirm result is within acceptable range.
  • About one hour prior to planned exercise, then immediately before, immediately after, and during if prolonged duration.
  • Before bed.

I would have thought a T1 insulin user would have tested more than that.

I could not see anything in your profile that suggests a pump etc.

I am T2, and test an average of seven times as well, e.g. fasting and before and after three meals a day.
