In my opinion you're not doing too badly because you drop after eating, it'll be worrying if you stayed at high 8's and continued rising. However maybe you could consider another type of breakfast, cereal and milk is considered high in carbs. I cannot comment if any non diabetics or diabetics experience tight eyelids. Some symptoms of high BG in diabetes is thirstiness, tiredness, peeing a lot, hungry, in extreme cases of DKA - vomiting. Your best bet would be seeing your doctors again for further information or get more tests done.
