Hiya,

New to the Forum. I have 9 unopened boxes of 'Freestyle Optium' testing strips which I no longer need. The expirary date is April 2013. I have tried to return these to my pharmacy and offered them to my GP surgery but they could not take them.

I really don't want to dispose of them before offering them to a UK based diabetic who may need them. I am not selling them nor do I want them to be sold on outside the UK. I'm just looking for a genuine diabetic who could take them off my hands (I will post them at my own cost).

Please get in touch if you could use them.

Many thanks,

Julia.sunshine1965

Hi Julia,

if these strips are still available I would be really grateful for them.

Please PM me if they are.

Thanks,

Kimberley

I don't wish to appear unfriendly at all Kimberley, especially as this is your first post but it says on your profile you are a type 2 on insulin.

Surely you receive test strips on prescription already, why do you need these?

I've only just been diagnosed, only have the 10 strips that came in the box with the meter and currently due to being screwed over by student finance, I can't afford to fulfil the prescription.

Your prescriptions are free. Have you sent off the form? If you have to pay, you can claim it all back.

Yes please, I've been diabetic for 14 years and currently buy these strips myself as my Doctor can't pescribe me enough. How much do you want for them.

regards
Ben

Hello

Sorry to bother you but if you have one box spare I would appreciate it. I found your post through searching on google to buy a box for my mum who is diabetic.

I gave my mum a kidney 5 years ago and her creatinine levels are rising as her diabetes levels are increasing and affecting her kidney. She is testing twice a day but due to government cut backs her GP is very sarcastic as to how much she is costing the NHS - hence why she won't ask them for more strips.

You can read my transplant blog on www.myspace.com/ louisa73

Kind Regards

Louisa

Ps. I would happily donate some money to a charity of your choice for a box.

I am a type 2 fairly newly diagnosed so don't get the meter or anything. A kind person on this forum sent me a meter and I would love a box of these if you have any left
It is so hard to manage the diet without testing :)
