At the start of this year, I honestly couldnt give a poop about my diabetes, I would eat & not inject insulin & was surviving on Lantus with not a care about it.

In May, something changed and I decided it was time to grow up and start looking after myself properly for once.

I have been t1 for 25yrs (I am 29 now) and in May, my HbA1C was 120. I made the decision to join this forum, get an appointment at Diabetic Clinic and sort my life out.

Fast forward to December, I have been attending Clinic every 3 months, have not missed a single injection, and generally feel a LOT better.

Latest HbA1C was 40 which I am more than happy with & know without the help and advice from people on this forum, I never would have got myself sorted out.

Thank you to each and every one of you for making this site what it is!!!!!

WOW! That really is astonishing.

Have you made any changes to your eating patterns, or is it purely down to using your medication properly? Your medical team must be overjoyed for you.

Really, a huge well done after a sustained period of what seems to have been denial?

@AndBreathe not eating crisps and junk and doing medication properly. Now I need to work on losing weight :(

Definitely denial and just not caring.

I wasn't trying to lose weight, but when I started reducing my carbs, to bring my numbers down (as a non-medicated T2), the weight fell off me, and I'm now somewhat skinny. Many others, including some T1s have found the same, although T1s often have to take less insulin if they reduce the carbs. Have you looked at that at all?

I was thinking about going low carb but always get stumped on what to actually eat.

you are an inspiration @MH2010 with your hard work and determination you have proved you can turn things round.
so pleased for you !!!
