Hi Everyone
A bit more relaxed now after seeing the DSN today. She is very happy with progress and my effort in typing out a table similar to the Diaries given, where I have written every time of day BG taken, every hypo treated and in doing that has noticed a pattern of hypos 2 hours after lunch on the last 5 days.
I also told her that we have in the past always had a problem with a Saturday morning before a football match where James gets up with a high BG (which I suggest is an adrenalin rush)as he really looks forward to his football. She has suggested from now on he goes down to 14 units of Lantus from 16 and if his BG is high on Saturday morning, have a few sips of Lucozade before match starts and see if this gives him more energy, as I said in an earlier topic, his Dad said he was very lethargic last Saturday, woke up at 8.10 with a BG of 14.2 and KO was 10.30 and by 11.53 his BG was 19.4 had to be taken off the pitch as he was puffed out. Got back home tested again at 12.35 and was 14.0. It is such a shame as he really enjoys his football.
We are waiting for an appointment now to see his Diabetic Consultant in 2 months time to see what his HbA1c will be as we were disappointed with his last reading of 8.0, as he has always been around 7.2.
I would like to add that I have known for some time that the DSN was leaving her job and the time has come when she finishes next week. She has always been with us every step of the way since James' diagnosis and will be greatly missed. Could not say if there will be a replacement, but have the opportunity to be transferred to another hospital if we desire.
