It's my mum's birthday and somehow I've been cajoled by my sisters to take her for afternoon tea - sandwiches, cakes and scones. I don't think I've got the willpower to just eat sandwich innards and lick cream from the scones, so I'm treating this like Christmas Day. Not overdoing it, but partaking of what I'm having to pay for!

No advice needed - just sharing!

enjoy it and don't feel guilty

Enjoy it - usually afternoon teas are very dainty portions so as long as you are mindful it shouldn't do too much damage. I have afternoon tea once or twuce a year on special occasions. The hotel we go to is on a lake with acres of beautiful gardens so I nice walk afterwards always helps. Hope you all have a lovely day, time with family is precious

I think you'll have to do it.

Rude not to

Why not, have a little treat, if you have earned it and especially if you make up for it afterwards.

I have a big day soon, and there will be cake, but our 'tea' is an Indian! So everyone can pig out on whatever they fancy. I can low carb without worry. And maybe if I behave, I can have a little bit. I will boogie to get my bloods down again.

I might even have a glass of something stronger than Pepsi max!!

Enjoy it @RosieLKH

Ah well, I've survived the carbs, though it'll take a while for my pocket to get over the shock of my little sister ordering a bottle of Prossecco without first asking the price, then ordering a second bottle later. That's my share of 90 quid I'll never see again!

It was a lovely day and Mum felt very special, so I guess it was worth it!

Ahh you can't take it with you, there's only one thing better than afternoon tea and that's afternoon tea with bubbles, glad you had a good time

Once in a while won't cause too much harm, and you can take it easy next day. Hope you enjoy it (at least ther's clotted cream on the scones
