A GOOD/BAD day

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I had an enjoyable, but not perfect eating day yesterday.
Went with daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren to visit friends we hadn't seen for an age. We were given lunch. I had a sensible [not big] portion of delicious home made cottage pie and lots of mixed veggies. We had pudding at the other friend's, where I kept away from the beautiful looking "Millionaire's Shortbread" and made do with 1 chocolate finger and loads of coffee. Our 2 friends are a mother and daughter, plus the daughter's 2 teenagers.
Afternoon's entertainment was watching very small grandchildren , aged 2 and 4 1/2 interacting with friend's teenagers and a litter of 3 Chihuahua puppies, the adult Chihuahuas and some exhuberant Italian Greyhounds.
2 year old grandson and 14 year old friend "played" together amazingly well , with computer games and 4 1/2 year old granddaughter sat quiet on the floor with 2 tiny furballs on her lap. all three looked blissfully happy. Other puppy was with 17 year old girl. Apart from some puppy swapping, the girls were very quiet.
All sorts of carby treats were on display, but I managed to keep away, thinking the potato on my cottage pie and one biscuit were well up to my allowable 30g.They wer probably more, but my bg didn't get up above 6.5. I took a Metformin BEFORE lunch to try for a bit of protection. It worked!.

Sounds more like a perfect day to me, all those lovely people/children and animals around, you are allowed to have a few more carbs than you would normally eat, as your bg test shows no harm was done at all.

I tend to stick to 50g carbs a day, but have been known to increase slightly on occasions, never any grain products, but root veg and fruit. I still hold Hb1ac's below 5.0, no medication, but plenty of exercise helps me.
