I had a feeling that today was going to a good day .. and how right I was ..
Following on from the saga of my cancelled appointment with the DN and my first appointment with my Doc, I'm pleased to say that today, it all went the other way .. BOOOOOM!!
I had an appointment with another Doc at the surgery for a completely unrelated matter. He had all my med records open and, after dealing with my minor issue, he asked me how I was getting on with my "named" Doc in terms of my T2. Not wishing to pour any "oil on water", I sort of mumbled, "well OK, I guess - but ..." and, instantly, he came back with, "you can see any doctor, you know .. all you have to do is ask .. you could see me for instance for your next review". I have seen this Doc several times before and I'm quite comfortable with him but worrying thoughts of crossing professional lines, closely followed by the rattle of frying pans and fires, came to mind. These were quickly dispelled, though, when I heard the words "testing" and "meter" and "LCHF". This sounded pretty much like the opposite of what I had reluctantly begun to believe was the norm that would determine the nature of my ongoing treatment. Then, after just a few minutes of further conversation, it turns out that this "wonder Doc" is a strong advocate of pro-active strategies for diabetes management and control .. including everything that I am trying to follow. He also believes that T2, while not necessarily reversible, can be controlled to a point where HbA1c and BG levels are consistently within non-diabetic ranges and no meds are required to maintain them.
Well, I thought, that'll do for me. My next review is in early June so, watch this space ..
