I thought I would post this because we hear so much on the forum about relations/friends/colleagues who are at best uncaring about our need for reduced carb diets:
i have an old friend/ex workmate who at least once a year arranges a get together at her house for some of her former workmates. She phoned a couple of weeks back to arrange a suitable date, and we got onto the topic of health (she's in her 80s now) and had a bit of a chat about me now being diabetic and on a low carb diet - she was curious about what I eat and drink and quite interested in the fact that I use almond milk. She was concerned about what she would offer me, and we ended up with nuts for me instead of the usual biscuits - which she fortunately kept anyway for snacks - and a herbal teabag for my drink which I said I'd would bring with me. When we arrived yesterday evening, not only did she have my alternative snack all ready for me in a nice little dish, she'd been out and bought me some almond milk so I could have a cup of coffee! In the event she entertained one diabetic, one lactose intolerant, and a migraine sufferer who had to avoid caffeinated coffee (and had also brought her own tea bag). Not a word of complaint - just a little list made so she got it all correctly served up for us and a lovely stress free evening with a lovely thoughtful lady.
