For the last couple of weeks I have been testing my bg religiously pre and post prandial as well as fasting bg’s. My numbers have averaged between 8.0 (fasting) and then between 5.3-7.3. I haven’t had bread or rice but did have a potato Wednesday.
My eating has pretty much been one meal in a 24 hour period most days. Every 3rd day I would snack on a few slices of Genoa salami if I got hungry in the afternoon and that would hold me until dinner.
I was getting worried as my 14, 30 and 90 day averages, according to my meter were creeping upwards. Today for some reason I took my creatine supplement out and mixed up a glass. This morning my fasting bg was 7.4. At 10:00am I was down to 6.7 only having had coffee with 33% cream and water. At 11:00am I drank my creatine supplement. Now at 4:00pm my bg is 4.2.
Any other day when testing at this time my bg has been 5.7-6.9 I had the same results during the summer when I used the creatine but thought the low numbers were due to strenuous exercise. Today just a light workout (nowhere near my summer workouts) yet my numbers with the creatine are very close. During the summer I actually dipped as low as 3.1 (no symptoms of hypo). That made me uncomfortable so I ate something to bring it up a bit.
Now however I’m going to see what a daily creatine drink will do with my numbers. I will also endeavor to keep my hydration the same as not to skew the numbers. This should be interesting.
Has anyone else had the lowering affect of bg’s using creatine?
