My mother has been diagnosed of type 2 diabetes recently and to support her I am doing a dissertation on the role information and communication technologies could play in managing diabetes.

Would you kindly let me know your thoughts on the following I would really appreciate it:

would you say that in terms of convenience a glucose meter is comfortable and why?

Of the following device providing continuous glucose monitoring which one would you be prepare to use and why:

GlucoWatch

Glucose Sensor inserted under your skin

Google Contact Lens for glucose monitoring

would you agree that the above devices would greatly improve your quality of life? if not why?

I am thanking you in advance for your time and comprehension wishing all the best in all your endeavors!!!!!!

What medication is your mother on?
If she is controlling her type 2 by diet with or without the most common drug for Type 2 diabetes Metformin then I would suggest continuous monitoring might not be the best option and that a simpler meter would be better.
However gir type 1 diabetics or type 2's on insulin or some other meds where there is a danger of dangerously low blood glucose levels then continuous monitoring is an option worth consideration..

Continuous monitoring is still a relatively young technology so still as issues with cost and reliability of sensors. Also control of blood glucose levels in type 2 with diet and Metformin is not like controlling the speed of car by watching the speedometer, for most type 2's blood glucose readings are used as a general guide to the effect of various foods on blood glucose level.
