Hi there,

I recently purchased a one touch glucose testing system as my husband was refusing to visit his gp to be tested for diabetes.

His blood sugar levels were fine, although when I tested myself my blood glucose levels came out at 7.5. Should I be concerned? This reading was taken four hours after my evening meal.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Diane

these testing machines are accurate to approx. plus/minus 15%.

7.5 is certainly at the top end for a non diabetic. I would test again just before your meal and 2 hours after. Come back with your results ,or, if you are not happy talk to your GP and ask him to some blood tests.

Yep, blokes are funny like that.

What led you to believe your husband needed a test for diabetes...?

Thanks everyone. I shall test again in the morning and two hours after breakfast. If the readings are questionable a visit to the gp methinks.

My husband was showing the typical signs.....tiredness, increased thirst, going to the bathroom more often. His reading was 5.9.

Hi my grown up son had the same symptoms so I told him I was going to finger prick him and his reading was normal ? Advised him to see his GP asap and he then found out he had high cholesterol of 6.5:eek:

So your hubby should go and see his GP, as something is causing his symptoms and should be investigated. Good luck to you both and with best wishes.
