A reluctant diabetic

I am a diabetic who has been in denial for years, but I've recently woken up and through low-carbing I have reduced my BS levels dramatically. My brother is also a diabetic, but due to almost non-existant advice from his doctor and his own reluctance to find out any information himself, he is now facing going onto insulin as his BS levels are so high. His doctor has only given him a vague idea about what to eat, nothing about following a low carb diet, and my brother believes that the doctor is always right.

Is there a programme he can get into in the UK (I live abroad) where he can get good advice and help with his diabetes? He now believes that insulin is the only way forward and is very sceptical that a low carb diet is the answer. Any help would be much appreciated.

All he needs to do is try it himself for a couple of weeks just to see what an enormous difference a low(er) carb diet can make.
Then he can make an informed decision. A lifetime of insulin injections to eat starches ans sugars, or a better, more nutritious and satisfying proper diet without the medication. His choice!

All the best,

fergus

Thank you both, I will send him the DESMOND details and hope he wakes up, as I have.
