LOL her first name got *'d out -- I forgot that ***** means something really really unmentionable in the UK!

I will just put F Brice, Ziegfield star of Broadway.

Well actually it is a common abbreviation of Frances and not so long ago we had a very well known English restaurant critic and popular television cook, F*nny Craddock - who must be turning in her grave!
And we have a saying "Sweet F*nny Adams" often abbreviated to "Sweet FA" - meaning "nothing".



It really infuriates me that some popular and well known abbreviations for common British christian names have in the eyes of many forums suddenly been deemed offensive.
 
Thank you for telling me that, @Robbity . I never knew that about F^nny Adams. I used to think Sweet FA meant Sweet F@¢* All. I remember some time ago another thread *'d out a perfectly innocent 'fowl' word for which we had to substitute 'rooster.' Silly really.
