Fasting reading this morning. 6.8

Had a bad night not much sleep, I've got the dreaded cough and also a ear ache. Didn't get up until 9-45 so it was a late reading.

Normal breakfast. Weetabix, 2 tablespoons of linseed millet and milk.

2hrs later 6.6

Had rye crisp bread, ham cheese and cherry tomatoes for lunch

1hr later 7.0

Pre dinner 6.2

Dinner. Ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato, sweet corn.

2hrs later 7.2

Don't know why it's gone up.

23-11pm bed time gone up to 7.6

Better luck tomorrow, at least the ear ache has gone.

I done better on Christmas Day when I expected it to go high than I did today.

Weetabix, milk, rye crisp bread, tomatoes, sweet corn, are all high carb.
Depends how much you have of them and how much you can tolerate.

lm mostly alright with them. Only have 1 Weetabix, 2 crisp breads and 2-3 cherry tomatoes at any time. Suffer from constipation so have to eat extra fibre.

you say you are ok with these things but you worry about high BG. It will be these things from your listed diet

Blimey, those readings are normal for me even eating low carb.

I eat these most days and my readings are normally between 5 and low 6 I have tested these items several times so know I'm ok to eat them.

Not really sure at the moment as still having the same problem. My Dr have also put me on Fybogel 2times a day and 2 7.5mg Senna tablets each evening. I'm 20 days into do this and at the moment these only a very slight improvement.

Hi Rosie,

I imagine your cold is having an affect on your BS readings. I wouldn't worry about it too much if you are eating tried and tested foods. Unfortunately when we test we start to become obsessed by the results, which are only a snapshot in time. Your readings are well below the recommended guidelines and I am sure they will return to where they were before once you feel better.

Rosie your blood sugars will rise sometimes considerably when you are sick. This is normal as your body will produce more sugars to fight your sickness. To me your blood sugar readings are perfectly within range for a person who is unwell. They will return to "normal" when you are better.
