Beetroot, Cucumber, Radish, Prawns - and arrogant people that have no understanding of how ill you can really be without looking ill
Ello nice people - yeah I know i've not been around too much recently, with my recent op and subsequent trips back to see the dr's it's been a bit chaotic.

However, i've taken on board a lot of the advise from you lot on here, and all seems to be heading in the right direction for me.

For me personally low carbs seems to be the way forward, and I know there's been a huge debate about this on the forum and i'm not here to blow any trumpets, but it's really had a huge impact on my Blood Sugars in the last two weeks.
When I first joined here, my readings were double figures everytime after any meal and I often struggled to get readings sub 10.0 m/mol. Despite me falling off the wagon a wee bit quite recently, but still having much lower readings than normal, I have now made more inroads into stabilising the problems i've been having.

The Diabetes Revolution by Dr Michael Clarke was my first stop in the library, as Dr Bernsteins book was not available, and i've followed the meal plans in there reasonably well - i'm now averaging Blood Sugar readings between 7.2 m/mol and 9.2 m/mol - ok still higher than what we would all like but nevertheless a huge positive step forward for me - I cant remember the exact carb intake i'm having (i'm at work writing this) but combined with 1500 mgs Metformin it seems to be working.

I've cut out pasta, spuds, curry (even low fat) and have religiously stuck to the plan for two week, even managed a small treat of a slice of cheese garlic bread, and have maintained the readings I have said. I'm still addicted to maadamia & pine nuts, and all is going well I generally think.

Even managed a reading of 3.9m/mol in the hospital just before going upstairs to theatre - a dose of glucose whils under a general soon brought that up to 7.9 again.

So - a huge thanks to those people that have advocated the use of a low carb diet in my lifestyle and i'll keep you all informed when things happen

Glad to here that Jimbo. I'm lucky and I'm managing to keep my levels below 7 except occassionally a bit higher. Lowered carbs slowly but surely. Only one problem is I just can't lose weight!!

Fantastic Jimbo, well done. I've had a bit of good news as well, I've now lost over a stone and when I bought a testing kit the other day my first result was (2 hr pp) 4.6! I hope you feel better now you've had your op, Keep it up.
