Hi all

Am climbing back on the low-carb train after falling off yet again.....for a couple of years this time. I wanted to ask if any of you worry about consumption of quantities of processed/preserved meats i.e. bacon, salami, ham etc? I have to say that I can happily eat ham for breakfast, but no other meat. And I often feel like bacon when I wouldn't want steak. But with all the 'meeeeja' health scares about nitrites/cancer etc - is it bad for me? My feeling is that T2 is worse!!!

Also, when calculating carb quantities in veg etc, is it best to use a carb counter?

Thanks v much

Bella,

Why not alternate your meat and eat poultry and fish also. There's been numerous health warnings saying that processed meat is damaging to our health and you have to weigh up the risks and make your own mind up on this one. Certain vegetables are quite carby and it may be best to look up the carb content first and weigh your portion before serving.
