Prediabetes About FBS Fluctuations and Reference Ranges

I hope someone here can help me.

The ff are my FBS results during the past year, all done in the same lab.
Aug 2018: 87.04 mg/dL, Normal: [70-100]
Dec 2018: 96.23 mg/dL, Normal: [70-100]
Dec 2019 100 mg/dL, Normal: [73.21-105.4]

First question:
I dismissed the increase b/w the 1st and the 2nd measurements as a side effect of statin.
But since I stopped taking them around the same time of the 2nd measurement,
I was hoping for better results on the 3rd. Does FBS fluctuate like this? Can it go down?

Second question:
Has anyone encountered the reference range in the 3rd? The technician said it was because
they are now using new machines with different calibrations.
Based on standard the [70-100], I am now prediabetic but since it is still within their updated range I am not really sure.

PS: I am 27 y/o, normal BMI and no family history of diabetes.
 
Worried about the huge jump from 86 to 100 in a year.
Confused about the unusual reference range. Everywhere on the internet says 70-100.

Maybe an overreaction but I am not doing very well in cholesterol/BP departments so prediabetes is the last thing I need.
 
Do you need to lose weight? Weight loss can improve BP and pre-diabetes numbers. If you want to reduce your hba1c readings, tell us what you eat in a typical day.
 
I am in good shape, 136 lbs/173 cm. I usually have apple/banana/grapes for breakfast and before going to bed. For lunch, I have rice + pork/chicken. For dinner: rice + fish/vegetable. I am able to avoid unnecessary snacking (i.e. pizza, donuts) for the most part. This unusual jump just confused me. The moment I started watching what I eat, my sugar rise unexpectedly.
 
It could be that the lab and it's different calibration will accont for the difference. Don't worry about it, just keep an eye one things.

If you were diabetic, or pre-diabetic, we would advise zero grapes and bananas. No fruit juice. No fruit apart from berries. Pizza, not a problem. Look up Fat Head Dough and make your own. Google Keto donuts. Rice? Cauliflower rice. Yum.
 
Unfortunately, in some people statins are known to cause blood sugar dysregulation and increase the risk of type II diabetes.
If I were only 27 and already seeing 100mg/dL on my fasting blood sugar, I would want to dig a bit deeper.
Can you buy a blood glucose monitor and start testing at home? It's really cheap on Amazon and totally worth the experiments. You'll learn a lot. Hopefully all is well, and getting the monitor will just confirm this. But if all is NOT well, then the monitor could help you catch this early.
