I choose to go with unsweetened soy milk sometimes I add Splenda into it, if I want it sweet.
Honestly, I'd rather "spend" the carbs elsewhere. Also, for those that have cholesterol issues, full fat milk is a no go.
Not sure one can say that with such conviction these days....
Cholesterol.. current thinking is that dietary cholesterol intake has little to do with levels of cholesterol in your blood. Although there are many who disagree.. the jury is definitely out on that one..Which part?

Ah I see. As someone who has high cholesterol, my doctor has advised low fat dairy. That's all I was saying. I though to avoid anything "low fat" I'd just switch to soy milk.
Thanks for all your responses! I do use fat free milk because I have high cholesterol & wish to avoid saturated fats. I also need the calcium & protein. Bunneria, could u please tell me which greens have the most calcium? Greens have many fewer carbs than milk, so if I can get my calcium from them I'd b really glad. I am a Newbie so am trying to learn all I can. Thanks for all the clarifications!
The highest level of calcium from any green is watercress. I eat it every day
Sox Brunneria, was just up early....as usual and roaming around

I don't do dairy - not for any health reason other than I dont like it. I have a small amount of cheese now and then and half fat creme fresh because that's not as creamy tasting. I get plenty of calcium from leafy greens, tinned fish with bones, a small amount of almonds - you can take calcium in tablet form if you feel the need
To be honest if you are happy with the numbers you are getting when you test and the milk doesn't raise your bs you don't need to change if you don't want to. I don't eat high fat just enough fat from oily fish, nuts, avocado and cold pressed oils such as olive oil
