Hi Folks.
Newbie here, so new in fact that i haven;t been diagnosed yet, but i think that is about to happen on Monday!
3 years ago i was prediabetic, something i only found out when i changed GPs as my old GP had never told me. I reversed that prediabetes and wasn't due another blood test for 2 years (Family history of T2 so regular checks).
I had bloods done last Monday (25th) and got a call from the surgery on the Wednesday, saying i needed to see the GP and the DSN but wouldn't give more details. I am booked to see the GP on 9th and DSN on 13th (bad omen right there lol!)
In the meantime, the surgery uploaded my test results to the NHS app, it shows as follows:
Hb1AC 98mmol - indicates very poor glycaemic control in a patient known to have diabetes (bit annoyed with this comment given i dont officially have it)
Plasma fasting glucose 17.4mmol
Serum lipid cholesterol 6.1mmol
Serum HDL cholesterol 1.17mmol
40% from baseline
Given these results and my family history i think its safe to say Monday will be a diagnosis. And i am so scared.
We are a family that needs quick and easy meals because i spend 6 days a week chauffeuring my daughter to her various football, swimming, kung fu clubs. We eat a lot of pasta and rice so she has carb energy. We don't have time to make separate meals because of the timescale we are on after school to get to clubs. I am panicking so much as to how i can make changes when she is also resistant to some foods.
I get a half hour lunch break, i walk her to school and back, i don't use sugar or salt in anything, my day starts at 6am and finishes at 8pm when she goes to bed, so i then have 1 hour to myself before I go to bed.
i am incredibly overwhelmed and, i suppose, angry in some way.
please tell me it gets better
