Hi everyone ( Son, 13, Diagnosed in October )

We have used the Expert meter for quite a while now but once or twice we have come across a problem which we can't seem to fix and wondered if anyone could help us.

When we input the carbs for a meal then we realise we forgot to add something on, like a desert for example, we try and go back into the carbs input in the meter but it won't let us change the amount of carbs. Does anyone know how or even IF it can be done?

Many thanks in advance

It's a while since I've used this meter, have you checked the user manual to see if the carb value can be changed?

I have the A4 booklet and I can't find it anywhere in there :(

You could ring Accu-Chek who will give you a definite answer, failing that give your sons DSN a ring and ask them.

I'll have a look later today to see if I've still got the manual and can help in any way.

thanks :) if you have no luck I'll do the other options you mentioned tomorrow

Wonder if you have a faulty meter?

I've got my Expert meter out and checked all this and mine allows me to change the carb value before confirming and selecting OK to the recommended bolus dose, besides even if you do press OK you can go back to the Bolus Advice screen and start all over again by imputing the carb value of the dessert and adding the two recommended bolus doses together.

hmm I will check when he gets home from school thanks Noblehead looks like I'll have to phone Accu Chek

Why wouldn't you simply

Is this before or after you have asked it to provide a bolus amount?

I think that's why. Once you've entered the carb amount and asked it to tell you the bolus, it retains that information as a record. I'd then add an additional entry for the additional carbs using the bolus wizard.

Oh, interesting, I'll take a look at the bolus wizard then. Cheers

we are looking at the meter right now and we cant see a bolus wizard :( can you tell us what we are supposed to be looking for?

That's just the generic term for entering the carbs and then it telling you the dose to use.

Your sons insulin-to-carb ratio's, insulin correction and bg target range would have been imputed by his DSN, based on this information the Bolus Wizard built into the meter works out a suggested bolus dose based on all this information, if your unsure about it all ask to see his DSN who will go through it all again.

Hi

What might help you to be able to change the carb values in the data stored on the meter, is to use the bolus wizard to calculate the carb and bolus but dont confirm it, instead inject the insulin calculated and just let the meter switchj itself off. Then look in My Data which will bring up the bg test if done and carb but because the insulin hasnt been confirmed, you will be able to change the carb value and enter the bolus delivered and then once you have confirmed it, the data will be stored on the meter.

Hi,

Did you ever find the answer to the above or is it accepted that once you have used the bolus wizard, you can't go back?

Have recently been given this meter and all is good but whilst I'm still fine tuning, I keep changing the dose levels or forgetting to input the basal etc and can't change which is frustrating.
